Pennsylvania’s Transportation Funding Crisis
The tolling of Interstate 80 was expected to fund the Commonwealth’s transportation needs. Without it, the promise of Pennsylvania’s 2007 transportation funding law – known as Act 44 – will not be fulfilled, leaving public transit systems without a secure, reliable, comprehensive funding source. Public transit agencies need our Legislature to find a funding source now. The time to act is NOW! Write or visit your state legislators. Send a letter to the editor of your local paper. Please visit the following Web sites for more information:
(Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association, or PPTA, developed this site)
(PennDOT developed this site)
(The Keystone Transportation Funding Coalition developed this site about comprehensive transportation funding)
Federal Transportation Legislation
We need your help urging our federal legislators to pass a long-term surface transportation bill. Please submit editorials to your local newspaper and contact the offices of Sen. Bob Casey, Sen. Patrick Toomey, Congressman Matt Cartwright and Congressman Tom Marino.
