Fixed Route Operator:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Operate a public transit vehicle to transport passengers on specific routes in a courteous and professional manner and in accordance with published time tables.
  • Ensures that a vehicle is safe and reliable prior to and following the operation by performing a pre-trip inspection and respectively a post-trip inspection, including the completion of a vehicle condition report for each vehicle driven throughout any given day.
  • Passenger assistance according to protocol prescribed by the Authority; including assisting passengers with disabilities.
  • The ability to operate all accessibility devices (i.e., ramps, lifts, etc.) in a safe manner according to Authority and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • The ability to secure passenger mobility devices and occupants prior to placing vehicle in motion.

 QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Requires possession and maintenance of a Pennsylvania CDL license (minimum class B) with no air brake restriction and passenger endorsement.
  • Requires a current DOT medical examination/certification every two years or as specified by physician.
  • Must be at least 25 years of age.

 FULL TIME TECHNICIAN (CLASS A MECHANIC)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: including but not limited to:

Safely and efficiently performs skilled mechanical maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of systems and components on transit buses vans, buses, and other COLTS vehicles.

  • Repairs, adjusts and maintains all COLTS vehicles including front-end components, chassis, drive trains, differentials, engines, transmissions, electrical, ignition and electronic systems, alignments, steering and suspension systems, brakes and braking systems. Hydraulic systems, exhausts, fuel and emission systems, cooling and heating systems, overhauls, power take off systems and drive train components.
  • Repairs interior components of vehicles such as seats, liners, doors and windows.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, inspects and road tests all COLTS vehicles.
  • Replaces and adjust headlights, and installs and repairs accessories; such as heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
  • Services, repairs and adjusts all hydraulic and pneumatic apparatuses and accessories.
  • Repairs flats, and mounts and balances tires including split-rim wheels.
  • Performs bodywork.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of truck or bus vehicle maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques.
  • Completion of vocational, technical or apprenticeship program in diesel mechanics.
  • Prefer Commonwealth of PA Certified Inspection Mechanic Class 3, Class 4 or Class 7.
  • Must possess a current and valid Commercial Driver’s License; class B with passenger and air brake endorsements and Medical Certification card.

 Shared Ride Operator – Part-time

Shared Ride Essential Functions Include but not limited to:

  •  Prepares for daily run by reporting to dispatch at scheduled time, in physical condition to fulfill the essential functions of driving a vehicle and adhering to the dress code.
  • Ensure vehicle is safe and reliable prior to operation by conducting an inspection and performing daily pre- and post-trip inspection checklist and completing a non-compliance report, if necessary.
  • Provides public transit services by safely operating assigned vehicle to pick up and deliver passengers in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with daily manifest and under all weather, traffic and passenger load conditions.
  • Works variable shifts and is available for work/overtime as needed and safety emergency response situations.
  • Assists passengers requiring aid, including elderly individuals, individuals with hearing and sight impairments, physically/developmentally disabled individuals, etc., by providing support while they board or depart from the vehicle, assisting them with packages, securing wheelchairs, informing all passengers that seatbelts must be worn on all vehicles where available.

Essential qualifications: including but not limited:

  • Possession of a valid pa commercial driver’s license ( minimum class b with passenger endorsement)
  • Negative drug testing-subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
  • DOT physical. Post-hire recertifications will be required

Part Time Service Employee - Bus Cleaner

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Cleans and maintains appearance of COLTS vehicles and parts inside and outside.
  • Responsible for parking, fueling, and servicing vehicles as assigned by Director of Maintenance and Facilities, Maintenance Supervisor or other COLTS management personnel.
  • Assists in performing a variety of janitorial duties in maintaining shop and offices in a clean and orderly condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Perform each essential function satisfactorily.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures, tools, and equipment.
  • Must possess a current and valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License; class B, with passenger and air brake endorsements and valid Medical Department of Transportation certification.
