COLTS Launches Transit Development Plan to Strengthen Local Services
Community Input Needed Through Public Survey and Outreach
SCRANTON, Pa. — The County of Lackawanna Transit System (COLTS), in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), has announced the launch of a Transit Development Plan (TDP). This countywide study will assess current bus services and explore ways to improve and expand transit options throughout Lackawanna County. The plan will inform future decisions regarding COLTS’ services, investments, and policies.
“Our goal is to deliver meaningful improvements that benefit both current riders and future users across the county,” said Tim McGrath, COLTS Executive Director. “This plan will help us better understand how people move throughout our communities, so we can improve access, strengthen connections, and make transit a more convenient option for more people.”
Public Survey Open July 8 – August 15
From July 8 to August 15, the public can provide feedback via a survey available in English and Spanish. The survey is available online at www.coltsbus.com/tdp or in paper form at the Lackawanna Transit Center. The community’s input will directly influence the recommendations resulting from the study.
Ride-Along Outreach on Fixed Routes
Alongside the survey, the project team will ride on certain bus routes and be stationed at the Lackawanna Transit Center to engage directly with passengers and collect feedback face-to-face. The public is invited to visit and share their opinions on:
- Wednesday, July 22, from 10 AM – 3 PM
- Thursday, July 23, from 8 AM – 4:30 PM
COLTS encourages riders, residents, and stakeholders to help shape the future of transit in Lackawanna County.
